Changing Live Through Research -

Personal Stories

Eric LeGrand dreams that he's walking. That's how his books, Believe: My Faith and the Tackle that Changed my Life and Believe: The Victorious Story of Eric LeGrand, begin. Eric has had quite a journey since he was paralyzed in the Rutgers vs. Army football game on October 16th, 2010. In his 15 years of playing football, he made thousands of tackles. This one left him unable to get up and he knew exactly what happened. Little did he know that what started out as a tragic injury would inspire a nation.

Rupy Jain's life changed instantly in August 2011 when she fractured her spine in a horrific car accident. In the aftermath, socializing and attending school using a wheelchair was overwhelming. Robert Vroeginday was 49 years old, in the prime of his life with a thriving career and wonderful children. Then the unthinkable happened—he had a massive stroke. Thanks to research at Kessler Foundation, he regained his life and independence.
